Yes, slightly. A mortgage application triggers a hard credit inquiry, which typically drops a score 3 to 7 points. Most scores recover fully within 30 to 60 days as long as you keep balances down and pay on time.
Multiple mortgage inquiries inside a 14 to 45 day window count as one for scoring purposes, so shopping around the same week does not stack the impact. The bigger move is what you do next, not whether you applied.
About 15 minutes online. The form covers basic identification, employment and income, the property type you are buying or refinancing, and a few questions about the home and your goals. It saves as you go, so you can pause and come back to it.
Document upload is separate. Once the form is submitted, you will get a secure link to upload IDs, paystubs, and statements. Most clients spread that across a few days.
